TimberLock™ FAQ
TimberLock™ FAQ
Is the TimberLock™ Lock Miter Router Bit available in the 1/4 inch (6.35mm) shank?
Unfortunately no, because of the size and weight of the cutting heads, especially for the larger cutters, the 1/4 inch shank is just not strong enough to support it during operation - it will bend and bow over time from the forces subjected on it, throwing it out of balance and making it dangerous to use.
We just can't recommend them unfortunately and we do not sell anything that we don't use ourselves, even though it would be a popular product.
Can it be used with a handheld router or hand drill?
We definitely do not recommend using the Lock Miter Bits freehand. For safety purposes it must be used in a router table with a fence.

-
Grain Matching
Control over grain direction and ability to conceal end grain gives your projects a seemless, professional look.
-
Increased Glueing Surface
The shape of the profile offers a larger area for the glue to bond with, increasing strength and durability of the joint.
-
Geometric Interlocking
Creates a specific profile that locks in place and won't slip when glueing or open up. Makes assembly of long workpieces easy.
